Our dentists are Here to Answer Your Questions
When seeking to learn more about dentistry, most people turn to the internet. While the data, opinions, and information out there are plentiful, it may take more time than you think to get to the answers you need. This is why we’ve made it easy by compiling some of our most frequently asked dental questions and answers below. Here, our dentists shares their insight and expertise, so you can save time, learn more, and become well-informed about your oral health.
How often should I visit the dental office?
It is recommended that you visit the dental office every six months. Tooth decay, cavities, and gum disease can form quickly, so by allowing your dentist to thoroughly examine and clean your teeth twice a year, we can stay on top of oral health problems and minimize the potential for restorative care in the future. We can also provide preventive solutions (i.e., fluoride treatment) to better protect pearly whites in between appointments.
What are my options to replace missing teeth?
There are three treatment options available for individuals who are suffering from tooth loss. Dental bridges, dentures, and dental implants are all viable solutions. Depending on the state of your oral and overall health, your jawbone density, your budget, and your preference, one option may be recommended more than another. However, during your initial consultation with our dentists, the two of you can discuss and decide how you want to replace your missing teeth and enjoy a healthier smile in the future.
Will a root canal hurt?
Many people assume that root canals cause extreme pain. This is a common misconception. The truth is that this procedure is highly effective at alleviating pain because it works to remove the infected or damaged pulp – the source of the discomfort. You will experience no pain throughout the procedure because of the local anesthesia; however, when finished, there is likely to be some soreness in the days following. With over-the-counter medication and/or prescribed antibiotics, it will dissipate over time, allowing you to feel more comfortable while enjoying a healthier smile.
Why should I undergo a tooth extraction?
There are many reasons you might need to have a tooth extracted. Some of the most common reasons include severe facial trauma, extreme tooth infection that cannot be saved with a dental crown or root canal, overcrowding that requires orthodontic treatment, and serious gum disease that is causing teeth to become loose. You and our dentists will go over the status of your oral health to determine if you are a good candidate for tooth extraction.
Will you accept my dental insurance?
Yes, we are pleased to welcome your PPO dental insurance and will work with you to maximize your benefits so that you pay the least amount on the day of your treatment. By being an in-network dentist with various companies, we can help to lower the price of your preventive and restorative services so that you can keep more money in your pocket.
Are there other ways to keep dental care affordable?
Yes, if you are uninsured, you can enroll in a low-to-no-interest payment plan through CareCredit. As a third-party financier, they offer flexible financing with no surprise fees. This makes it easy to pay off the cost of your treatment over several months instead of paying the total amount upfront.
